“Discover your own flava, then package it and present it to the world. From the way you tie your shoelaces to how you get down to business, you are your own best brand.” – Kevin Liles
Do you.. There is no need to dress like the next person, talk like the next person, or even act like the next person but rather dress, talk, and act like YOURSELF. Have your own sense of fashion, style, and “swagger” even if it seems off the wall and crazy! I will throw on a pair of Chuck Taylor’s with some dress pants and a shirt & tie in a minute and could care less what others may think because I’m MY OWN PERSON and I have my own sense of being and you should too.
Stop trying to “fit in” all the time and just be yourself. Stop trying to be a follower all the time but instead be your OWN leader. We all know the saying – Be a leader and not a follower. This was something I heard ALL THE TIME from my parents when younger and I definitely took heed to it! Recently I realized that so many people are content with sitting back and following the lead of other people but not the lead of their own path and direction in life. Some may feel that we as individuals have been conditioned in life to behave according to other people’s expectations but I personally feel that there is a limitation to that “conditioned behavior”. I’m not a puppet with my strings being pulled nor am I in that much “fear” of the outside world that I need to feel the need to conform in order to be accepted. I do understand the fact that we are ALL human, and therefore we tend to focus on the needs and wants of others in addition to how others perceive us that we lose the true core in being ourselves first. We need to learn how to not let that thought linger too long, but rather come back to reality.
Don’t Let Cash Rule..
“Greed will only trip you up. Understand that money matters, but only as a means to freedom, access, options and security for the future. Learn how to make cash work for you.” – Kevin Liles
In relation to what I mentioned above, “keeping up with joneses” plays a MAJOR role in individuals trying to follow and be like the next person. Some people find it hard to differentiate between needs and wants and therefore tend to live beyond their means in order to keep up with the next person. Just because the next person may have, doesn’t mean you need to have it too. Lead your own path, don’t follow the path of someone else.
Do YOU!!
